Do you know what your purpose is in life? What you value? What makes you the happiest? The Resilience Journey is an engaging, interactive app that takes you on an enlightening journey that will open your eyes to your life's purpose while teaching you about the five core components of resilience. Resilience is so important because resilient people lead more authentic, fulfilling, balanced lives. Resilient people aren't easily knocked off course. They know their purpose, they achieve their dreams and goals, and they follow their hearts. Resilient people also experience less stress, less depression, and better physical and emotional health.
The Resilience Journey begins with The Resilience Scale, a clinically-validated, 25-question assessment that is the best known tool available for measuring resilience. Once you have your resilience score and understand your current level of resilience, you will be lead through five chapters that help build your resilience. You will be lead through more than two hours of learning material and will complete more than 40 interactive exercises throughout the app that help you deepen your understanding of your own resilience and how to build and maintain that resilience, and why it is so important to living a vital and authentic life. The Resilience Journey was authored by Dr. Gail Wagnild, RN, PhD (the creator of The Resilience Scale). Dr. Wagnild has studied and taught resilience for more than 25 years. She has degrees in social work and psychiatric nursing and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in nursing research and evaluation. She has worked as a clinician, faculty in university settings, and as a research and evaluation consultant. Additional details on the chapters in The Resilience Journey: Chapter One: I was born to do this (living a purposeful life) Purpose is the driving force in life. When we experience inevitable difficulties, our purpose pulls us forward. Though we often hear the phrase 'find your purpose,' rarely is your purpose lost or hidden. Your purpose typically finds you, not the other way around. Rather than spending a lot of time and energy searching for your purpose, pay attention to what you are called to do every day, and your purpose will soon reveal itself. In this chapter you'll explore:
Chapter Two: I have all the tools I need (self reliance) Self-reliance is a belief in yourself, with a clear understanding of your capabilities and limitations. Throughout our lifetime, we encounter challenges that we meet successfully. At other times, we fail. Self-reliant individuals have learned from these experiences and have developed many problem-solving skills. Furthermore, they use, adapt, strengthen, and refine these skills throughout life. This increases their self-reliance. In this chapter you will explore:
Chapter Three: I will never give up (perseverance) The determination to keep going despite difficulties, discouragement, and disappointment is perseverance. Repeated failure or rejection can be tough roadblocks in life. They can prevent you from moving forward and attaining your goals. Resilient people are good at overcoming roadblocks. They tend to finish what they begin. This chapter will help you answer these questions:
Chapter 4: I take life in stride (equanimity) Resilient people understand that life is neither all good nor all bad. People who respond with resilience recognize this and are open to many possibilities. This is one of the reasons resilient people are described as optimistic, because even when the situation looks doubtful, they are probably on the lookout for opportunities. Resilient people have also learned to draw on their own and others' experiences and wisdom, and to use this to guide their responses. Do you have equanimity? In this chapter you'll explore:
Chapter 5: I know my true north (existential aloneness) Resilient people are their own best friends. We must face alone much of what we face in life; if we are content with ourselves, this is easier. Coming home is a journey that begins with getting to know yourself well. Along the way, you become 'comfortable in your own skin.' Most of us are ordinary people going about ordinary lives, but each of us is unique. We have much to contribute to the world around us. Many people fail to recognize this about themselves. A resilient individual will recognize his or her own worth. This chapter will help you answer:
Each and every one of us can increase our resilience. Why not start your journey today? |
